 Castle in Dębno

It’s a very unique historical building in our country. It’s practically the only late medieval construction  maintained in almost unchanged technical condition. The castle was erected between 1470-1480 by an architect Marcin Proszko and his apprentice Jan from Kraków. The construction of the castle was ordered by Jakub Odrowąża, the castellan of Kraków. The castle is located on a small hill, surrounded by a moat and old ponds. The castle in Dębno has both features of a defensive fortification and of a grand residence. It is a stone and brick building consisting of another four multi-storey buildings concentrated around rectangular bailey, decorated with bay windows and towers. The castle boasts an authentic 15the-century stone portals, window frames and a frieze with coats of arms. Inside remained fragments of  sgraffito and painted decoration. Unique antiquities are stone bay widows dating back to the second half of the 15th century. The interior of the castle is arranged into a museum and is fitted with period furniture, equipment, bric-a-brac and weapons. Also utility rooms like the kitchen, the larder and the pharmacy are available for tourists as well as the castle chapel and the armoury. 


The castle in Czchów
The castle was erected in the middle of the 14th century and it was an important fortification in defensive system of the Kingdom of Poland during the reign of Piast dynasty. The stone tower is what reminded from that fortification. It was erected at the turn of the 13th and 14th century. Going up the metal stairs you can get to an observation deck at the top of the tower, where one can admire the beauty of the Czchów landscape. Downstairs, so-called guard’s room hosts a small archaeological exposition, which provides information about the history of the settlement and the castle. There is also a scale model of the Czchów castle from the period of its biggest splendour.


The Tropsztyn castle in Wytrzyszczka  
The castle is a reconstruction of the 13th-century fortress and it’s situated on a hill bordering the Dunajec river. It was located along important water and land trade routes. The castle was inhabited by two families : Ośmioróg- Gierałt (since the 13th century) and Chebda( the middle of the 14th century). It was the bandits’ residence, and as a consequence of their  illegal deeds, was partly destroyed in the 16th century by the Wydżgów family from Rożnów. Today the castle, thanks to the reconstruction works conducted by a special foundation, is an exceptional tourist attraction. The dominant theme of the reconstruction works is the Inca culture and the treasure, which according to the tradition is hidden somewhere in the castle. At present it’s a private property open to visitors in a holiday season from 9 a.m to 5 p.m (Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m to 7 p.m).


The Palace of Goetz-Okocimski family
The palace is one of the most precious historical monuments in Małopolska region and rank high among other residences in the area of Kraków. It was built at the end of the 19th century by Jan II Albin Goetz- Okocimski, owner of the Okocim Brewery and his wife Zofia Sumińska. The palace along with other buildings and a park, form a complex. The building is highly decorated both outside and inside. The residence used to be well fitted with beautiful furniture, fire places, stoves, crystal chandeliers and lamp brackets. There are only few paintings and game trophies left. Apart from the palace, a complex consists of a gateway with a fence, a hothouse, a stable and a house service building. The entire complex of the palace buildings is located in the picturesque, large park arranged in the English style. There is also a forest complex and especially interesting, botanical garden and arboretum, where you can find many different species of trees and bushes.


The Settlement on the Bocheniec Hill
In Jadowniki, on the hill called Bocheniec there are remains of an old settlement, which date back to the early middle ages. It was one of the most important complexes of defensive buildings during the tribal period in Małpolska. The settlement existed between X and IX century and its fall was connected with the crisis of an old organisation in the period of the first Piast dynasty. There was a net of non- defensive settlements  around the Bocheniec settlement. It is said that there was also a chapel on the Bocheniec hill in the 15th century but it was destroyed later on.


The Manor House in Dołęga
Because of its contribution to the national liberation movement the manor ranks high in the polish history. There are legends connected with the manor, which show strong patriotic traditions among the inhabitants. It  is said that Marian Langiewicz, the main leader of the January Uprising spent a few days in the manor. A small shrine standing near the building is believed to witness insurgents’ military oaths. At the turn of the century, also in the interwar period, the manor was the centre of spiritual and cultural life. This typical polish manor house, like those portrayed in the polish literature of the 19th century, was visited by many famous people: Stanisław Wyspiański, Adam Asnyk, Włodzimierz Tetmajer, Tadeusz Grabski.


The Manor House in Biskupice Melsztyńskie
It’s the oldest from the manor houses built in classical style for a middle class family. The manor was erected at the beginning of the 19th century by one of the village’s Lessee. It is a brick, one-storied house  built on a rectangular plan with a terrace attached to its eastern elevation. The manor is now a private property.


The Manor House in Kąty
The manor was erected around 1900 , after the fire in 1959 was rebuilt and its structure slightly changed. There is an orchard on the southern side of this single-storied building, on the  northern and western remains of park establishments running from the village road to the manor in form of a hornbeam alley.

The Manor House in Przyborów
The manor dates back to the second half of the 19th century. This eclectic, single-storied building with a large  porch is surrounded by a small park in which there is a pond and a hornbeam alley.


The Manor House in Wokowice
Worth visiting in Brzesko commune is a manor house dating back to the late 19th century. The brick manor was build probably by Stanisław Gniwiński. Inside the building there are well preserved old tilled stoves, original floor and the remains of stucco decoration. The current owners of the manor use it for agritourism.


  The Manor House in Szczurowa
Erected between 1856-1860 by the land owners of Szczurowa Anastazja Chwalibóg and the Kępiński family. This eclectic manor combines elements of neo-Gothic and classical styles. It’s the biggest and in the best condition of all houses for middle class families from the 19th century.


The Manor House in Zaborów
This manor built after 1887 was erected on a square plan in Rococo-Classical style. The brick, plastered construction charms with an architecture unusual in this region. Until 1945 the manor was inhabited by Irena Dąbski, its last owner. The local landed property belonged to the Osoliński family. After 1945 the estate was divided and the manor allocated for emigrants. Nowadays is taken over by a Hunting Club.
