Tourism in the region, general information
Brzesko county is located in the north-eastern part of Małopolska region, near Kraków. The county’s area covers two geographically diverse regions: the Sandomierz Basin in the north and the Wiśnicz hills in the south. The south-eastern areas, bordering the Dunajec river, are considered the best places for hiking and cycling. Moreover the Czchów lake gives a perfect opportunity to practice all kinds of water sports. The Brzesko county is very diverse in terms of the landscape- lowlands, hills, fields and forests. Also well developed transport and decent road network allow to reach quickly communes and lovely villages in the county.
Brzesko county is also famous for historical monuments representing different styles and eras. The main tourist attractions are: medieval castle in Dębno, 19th-century manor in Dołęga, debris of the 14th-century medieval castle in Czchów, and many other historical and sacral monuments. Worth seeing is also Szczepanów- a town, where St Stanislaus, the patron of Poland was born.
